Project 1 / Self-Portrait 

Create a portrait of yourself by applying the various principles that you had learnt through these weeks.

1.0 VISUAL RESEARCH

I looked for inspiration and references pictures from Pinterest. I have a brief idea of making my self portrait artwork half drawing and half photography. Myself as a main object would be a photograph and the background would be some of my drawings and photographs about some elements that I think can represent myself. 

2.0 IDEA EXPLORATION

I took some time to find some pictures that I think represented myself  and also a picture of myself that I like.

After I found these pictures, I started to do collage using Photoshop to make them as a background of my self portrait.

I added my drawings (sketches of drawing my self portrait) as a background too. Also, I added some other elements to make the colours of the artwork more vivid. For example, my hand holding a strawberry to make a contrast with the white background.

3.0 FINAL OUTCOME

I fixed something after lecturer's feedback and this is my final design.

4.0 FEEDBACK

Feedback Week6: Idea approved.

Feedback Week7: The design looks okay. Continue to work on it and add the drawings in.

Feedback Week8: The design looks nice, but the white background looks a little bit out of place and plain. Suggested to make the white background like a paper texture so the whole artwork could blend well.

5.0 REFLECTION

It was fun finding pictures to collage with to describe myself in one picture. I used AI and PS for the collaging part, also drew the self portrait sketches for the artwork. I gained different techniques while doing this assignment.
