Week1:
During week 1 practical class, we practice and play the Bezier Game, it was to help us master the Pen tool in Photoshop.

Next, we were asked to create a e-portfolio blog with Blogger. As I am not Creative Media Student, I create a new one on the spot. Which is what you see now! https://samcsdesign.blogspot.com

Pinterest account also required for us to continue with the further lesson, so I created one for inspiration and references collecting. https://www.pinterest.com/samcsdesign/

Later, we were assigned to explore on Pinterest and find 3 of our favourite graphic design works on Pinterest.

Figure 1.2 Design #1

Description:I like the idea of making liquid as a form of font. Also the colors are well matched. I believe pink is the finishing touch because the color tone appears homogeneous but a little bit boring without it.

Figure 1.3 Design #2

Description: I like the idea of making the bad parts of teeth look like an architectural design. Also, the design has a meaning of “don’t let the bacteria live” stated in the slogan. which is also a pun in chinese. The word “live” in Chinese has the same meaning as tooth decay.

Figure 1.4 Design #3

Description: I like the idea of combining digital art with real world architectural design, it makes a contrast but at the same time goes well. Also, I like how bright the characters are, making them look more vibrant.

Week2:
In Week 2, we learned about marquee tools including lasso, pen and layering tools in Photoshop. We were given materials to practice in class.

After we mask out the tables and put them into the living room picture, we learned to add shadow under them to make it more realistic.

Week3:
For this week practice, as we have no physical class this week, we follow a tutorial on YouTube and do the exercise on our own with materials given.

All we have to do is to mask out the Shazam and place it in the mansion. By doing it, we have to adjust the size of it according to the scale of the background, also adjust the colour of the original picture to make it blends well. After that, we also have to make a shadow using brush tool + blur effect. Lastly, duplicate the Shazam and adjust its opacity and apply ripple effect to make a reflection of it.

Week4:
In Week 4, we learn about recolouring black and white pictures using different method.

Week5:
In week 5, we learned about double exposure and image blending modes on Photoshop. During the in class exercise, we learned the techniques of masking to create a double exposure artwork. Also, we have chance to explore with different blending modes.

Week6:
In week 6, we worked on displacement map exercises in class in Photoshop. To create a displacement map, we need to adjust color of the displace sample to black and white, also, apply blur effect to soften the edges. After that, save it as psd file to apply it on the object you want. Before applying the displace effect, the object must be converted to smat object. Next, select a suitable blending mode to blend the displace reference and the object.

We did two more exercises with same technique. But different than the first exercise, we need to mask out the area we want to apply the displacement reference.

In the following exercise, we did the same steps as before and we added some shadow after everything is done.

Week7
In week 7, we learned about healing tools in Photoshop including spot healing brush tool, healing brush tool, patch tool and content-aware move tool. We use four of the tools in different in-class exercises.

In the same week, we also did a practice about cyborg effect using our self portrait. It's just similar technique of creating clipping mask so our lecturer asked us to have fun playing around and just drawing the lines as we wanted. Before we did the cyborg effect, we used the healing tools that we learned earlier to do some touch up of our photos.

Week9
In this week class, we learned about basic transformation (rotate, position, scale and opacity) in After Effects and did a short animated video in class.

Week10
In Week 10, we practice making parallax and gif with Photoshop with material given. After mask out the moving object from background and convert them to smart objects, we are able to create a timeline and make transformation on them.
