Chang Sam / 0348448
Digital Photography & Imaging / Bachelor of Mass Communication (Digital Media Production)
Self-titled is an exploration project for the students to express their own individuality and reflect their personality into digital art self-expression.
The main idea is to build up self-confidence and discover their interest.
Week10: Idea Development
1.1 Biography about myself
INTRO
My name is Chang Sam, all my friends call me Sam. I am 20 years old, currently majoring in mass communication in Taylor’s University. I am an extroverted person who enjoys alone time most of the time. I enjoy listening to music, almost every genre of songs.
PARAGRAPH 1
I enjoy trying out new things, I always wanted to explore everything that I can reach, and try to reach something that seems far away from myself at the moment. I have a lot of interests including singing, dancing, drawing, knitting, playing legos and puzzles, cooking, baking etc. I try to have passion on everything and have fun.
PARAGRAPH 2
Trying to have fun doing everything is my biggest goal. I believe we can do and make things better with a positive mind. While you try to make things enjoyable, you will actually motivate yourself.
SUMMARY
Just have fun and enjoy the moment, live at the moment.
1.2 Statement about my work
INTRO
A colorful and mixed artwork style collage artwork with retro vibes.
PARAGRAPH 1
The concept of the design is there will still be some fantasy parts living in the real world. Some people might let their mind run wild while creating arts and some can escape from reality for a moment in game. We have to find the way to have fun and free ourselves from boundaries.
PARAGRAPH 2
The idea of collaging my self-portrait with different art genres is to deliver the message about “you have many sides of you, you don’t have to be ashamed of any of them because those are what make you who you are”.
SUMMARY
I believe everyone have a or some special zone to release themselves and to be their totally selves. That is when you live in your imaginary world and enjoying your life, and just being yourself.

Artist Statement: This artwork contains collage design and also different genre of art styles. It is themed with retro elements such as old window wallpaper and old paint interface, making a contrast between old and new digital.
Week12: Execution and Post Production

Week14: Submission
Titled: Paint-self
Feedback:
Week13: Both digital poster looks ok, but the background of digital poster #2 is too wide and too many space, not emphasising the main object. Suggested to pick digital poster #1 to work on.
Week14: The video looks quite complete already, can finalise it and submit.
Reflection:
This is my first time using After Effects, it is actually more interesting that I have imagined seeing a still image comes alive. Sometimes it's hard to reach my expectation of the effect, and I would have to make adjustment little by little. So it's actually gave me much sense of accomplishment even though its just 12 seconds short animation. Overall, it's totally fun and I learned that AE is such a powerful tool, the skills that I learned from this will definitely come in handy if I had to make videos/animation in the future!
